I have over 20 years’ experience working as a therapist/counsellor.
I have worked in education, the NHS and for the last few years in private practice.
I originally trained as a nurse and worked in hospitals. I then worked in an East London college of further education as a College Nurse and trained as a counsellor during my time there. I went on to specialise in sexual health and contraception and set up a specialised counselling service for young people within a sexual health clinic. All these experiences led me to train as relationship and sex therapist.
Having a medical background helps my practice as a counsellor and sex therapist. I also work with people who have physical illness and the impact this is having on their lives. Having a working knowledge of medication, treatments and the NHS enables me to have a better understanding of what that person is dealing with.
I am very fortunate in that I have always thoroughly enjoyed my work, but the autonomy afforded to me in private practice allows me to enjoy it even more.
